Nan McKay

Nan McKay headshotNan developed and led the Environmental Sustainability Program for The Russell Family Foundation. During her six years with the foundation, she managed 350 grants to 157 nonprofit organizations. From 1985 to 2002 Nan served three Washington governors in leading work to clean up and protect Puget Sound. She chaired the Puget Sound Action Team and was deputy director and executive director of the Puget Sound Water Quality Authority.

Nan has also worked on energy policy with local governments in the Northwest and spent seven years at the League of Oregon Cities working on land use and growth management, community and economic development, election law, juvenile justice, jail standards, municipal courts, emergency medical services, and energy policy. She has also worked in the fields of mental health, international relations and journalism.

Nan has expertise in strategic planning, program and organizational development, group facilitation, public policy, and outreach, media and communications. She has served on and chaired a variety of public and nonprofit boards, commissions and task forces and currently serves on boards of organizations focused on sustainability and environmental education, conservation and protection. She holds a Bachelor's Degree in English from Bucknell University.
