Policy Governance

Training and assistance is available for boards using, or interested in using, the approach to board governance called Policy Governance®. Several Service Corps members are graduates of the Policy Governance Academy.

Customized Training
Once an organization has decided to use Policy Governance, a consultant knowledgeable about the approach can facilitate the development of board policies. This process requires a commitment of time from all board members as policies are developed in each of the following areas: Governance process, Board/Executive Director Relationship, Executive Limitations and Ends Policies.

Introduction to Policy Governance Workshop
ESC offers a training workshop for executive directors and board members of organizations that are currently using or considering using Policy Governance.

This session is designed to provide a solid grounding in the principles and processes of this governance model to individuals who are joining boards using Policy Governance.

The session also helps participants from organizations considering Policy Governance gain additional understanding of and decide whether it is the right fit for their organization.

Upcoming Workshop Dates
An Introduction to Policy Governance is scheduled twice a year in December and January. If your board would like to learn more about Policy Governance, the cost of having the 1.5-2 hour session at your board meeting is $200.
